The Last Tomato

As God is my witness, one day I will take a clear picture of something close up. Last night we had our first freeze. Not like the ground froze or anything but it was the last night any summer vegetables had a hope of survival. The beets are pretty happy though, although I have not told them they have a rather limited time left to grow before forced evacuation.

Today I went to the house and was able to dig up one good sized sweet potato amid shriveled vines and as I looked over the sad looking tomato plant, I saw in the very center a flash of red. It was in good shape so I grabbed it. December 4th marks my latest tomato harvest to date. Pretty good, I think. Although we have had winters with very late frosts so I am sure in time I can do better - something to keep coming back to the blog for!
