Sacramento Sept 09

Tommy and Elizabeth called me in August and asked if I could babysit for them in Sept. while they went to a concert. One night. Simple. So I decided to go up the previous Wednesday (Sept 10) and stay until the following Tuesday. That was last Tues. and I am still here.

There were several factors that came into play. One was that Elizabeth was feeling mighty poorly as she is 14 week pregnant and having a few minor complications. This has made her a little less energetic than she would like. Also, and this is big, we realized that the new "The Office" would be premiering the Thurs. after I was due to leave. No way! So tomorrow is Saturday the 19th and I will finally and sadly depart - we are going to travel to Santa Cruz together and hang out for awhile and then I will go down Big Sur and home. A lot of fun for one night of babysitting.

I did not know she was pregnant when I came up. She put a "Big Brother" t-shirt on Jason and I still did not get it. Finally she just told me. A little slow these days.

Below is a small sampling of the 9 day visit. Following this entry is the Jason-centric portion.

When Tommy got home the first night I was there Jason INSISTED that he mow the lawn.
You can see why. He is daddy's boy. The next night he INSISTED that they go on a bike ride so Tommy fixed the tire of the kid caboose that attaches to his bike and off they went.

Our best together time was always the play-doh portion of the day.

Jason is a very bright boy but is a little slow on the potty training goals and methods.

The Train Museum

If you ever have a chance, go to the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento.
It is very interesting for kids and adults alike.

In the kid section there was a great miniature train setup. One of the trains had a camera so you could watch its journey around the track and through the tunnels on a monitor.

This is the train-cam view of Tommy and Jason

The Office

Tommy was a little late getting home the night of the Office Party. This started out as a plan to simply watch the show together and got completely out of hand. Tommy made the figures at work - staying late on his own time.
