Danny and Mom Go To The Big City

Danny and I went to Boston. Originally we were going to meet Beth for lunch and Danny would go to an appointment with an energy specialist while I grabbed a cab to the airport. However, the night before, just after Pat arrived from schlepping up from Salem to say goodbye, I decided to extend the stay another week. So we kept our Boston appointment with Beth and went our separate ways afterwards - me back to Rockport and Danny to his appointment.

Funny story. We went to a high end fish restaurant in Fanueil Hall for lunch, McCormick and Schmick's - they have a picture of Ted Kennedy eating there. Very nice clubby atmosphere. As the hostess was seating us a cockroach darted across the wainscoting. She was very embarrassed and tried and failed to kill it. As she took us to another table Danny grabbed a piece of paper and killed it himself. Having worked in restaurants before this did not faze any of us. However, we got the best service imaginable and a visit from the manager who tore up our check at the end and assured us of their overall cleanliness and attention to hygiene. When he realized we were not terribly disturbed and had not called a lawyer, we all shared restaurant and NYC apartment horror stories, which I will spare you on this blog. Cheap eats, though. It was a typical Spring day in Boston - 40 degrees and windy and overcast.

We had taken the train and I had meant to ask Danny for his keys since I would get back to Rockport first, but I forgot. So, I decided to walk when I got back and took advantage of the walk by cutting across the headlands and walking along the bluff. Very relaxing and after having the severe anemia for so long I really appreciated being able to do the walk without having to stop for breath.

Really good pictures. The view from the headlands really captures the raw greyness of a typical Spring day in Rockport. - Beth
