Let's Make 'Mother' A Clean Word Again

That was actually a new year's resolution long ago by one of the most interesting mothers I know; Joan Darlington. But after she made the resolution she had to ask one of her kids what the full phrase was that followed "mother ...". Ahhhh, those days of innocence.

Who knows how to have a great birthday/mother's day celebration!?
Oh yeah! And the air was sweet with the smell of orange blossoms.

Actually, since I am not actively mothering and intend to get more selfish as the years go on (a high bar to reach, I realize), I am abdicating the day to the more active mothers like Elizabeth and Jean. It is all theirs. Although if a gift or phone call comes my way I will be gracious about it.

And as for birthdays, enough already. I realize that 56 is the new 51 and a half, but who's counting? I plan to save it as a day to indulge (like I need an excuse) and this year I am celebrating by finishing my bankruptcy docs for Monday and making dinner for the Bocharov family. Since I have effectively stopped cooking, it seems like a treat.

And to all of the other mothers out there - enjoy. You have certainly earned it.

Motherhood; it's a wild ride!
