At the time there was a dearth of theme parks but it would not have mattered. Disneyland was the granddaddy of them all and, although a childhood dream, I had never been. Neither had Beth or Ellen and that day found us all in California with five bucks each to burn so off we went. I was twenty years old and still young enough to be entranced with the Happiest Place On Earth. We had a great time and over the years when we brought the kids, I always looked as forward to it as they did. Could this possibly my one dream come true? LOL! Contrast the excitement of bringing Lisa there for the first time (at a more mature age) and getting the comment "It was a little cheesy". Haha. That was the last time I went. And I think I miss it!
A few other things of moment happened that day in my life and elsewhere but they no longer matter. But a first trip to Disneyland is forever.

I think I will know I am wealthy when buying Disneyland tickets and getting a sit down dinner in one of their restaurants does not make me mentally put off major budget items for another six months.
Patrick has a great Disneyland story featuring soldiers who had been in the desert for an extended period of time. Ask him to tell you.
Oh yeah. I just got back from Sacramento but that will have to wait as I left my camera and a coffee grinder and I even left my ATM card in the machine - that one was returned to me (eat your heart out Beth). Not so bad. Last time I went up I forgot to bring clothes.
Lyla was so sweet - she gave me her cold. It took me 13 hours to drive home because the itch in my throat made my eyes wacky and I found I could not concentrate on the road without everything getting out of focus and jumpy. I think I stopped at every rest stop on the 5. The one at Lost Hills has the cheapest gas, by the way.

it's a world of laughter, a world of tears. it's a world of hopes and a world of fears. there's so much that we share, that it's time we're aware......

In my life I had three goals. 1. to be a nurse (check) 2.see disneyland (check) 3.get married and have 12 children (half check). Getting to Calif. from Mich. was amazing, but going to disneyland was beyond description after watching the mouskateers for YEARS. My roomie and I watched the screen as the guy walked on the moon...I too was about 20 years old. ahhh the good old days...
oops, that was from me, bonnie
