There are dozens of farmers markets around but I was put off by the entry fees. I did learn that Fallbrook had one with a $15 entry fee and she would give me a spot on Good Friday (they are open on Fridays only)
Excellent! I could use the day out in the world making my way. As you probably know, farmers markets are as much about stuff as about food, so I fit right in. By the end of the day I sold a grand total of.... 1 egg! But everyone thought they were beautiful. LOL. But that paid for my fee - not for the stuff I needed to prepare, but live and learn. The couple who bought it were from Philly and they were here visiting their son just back from Afghanistan who is at Pendleton. They have a grandson in the St Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic School in NE Philadelphia so thought this might be a good gift. I cannot tell you how grateful I am that one egg sold at least.
My table. Just a card table that looks like someone threw up an eight year old girl's birthday cake on it. I also had flyers on pysanky classes and building gardens - so who knows what may blossom from the exposure.
Some of this year's crop
At the market - a 3000 year + tradition
Another view of the market. It was really in a nice spot on the corner of Main and Alvarado in Fallbrook
See?
Ah. Actual farm produce. As Southern Californians can grow 365 days a year it is a wonder there is not more except that people have other means of getting their produce to market. This booth was Certified Natural which, surprisingly to me, is more stringent than Certified Organic. They have to do everything Organic does PLUS they use no chemicals for bugs or disease at all - even organic ones. Who knew?
Much to my surprise I got a canopy. As you can see, my little card table does not come close to filling the space provided.
