Hidden Escondido

I got to Pasha's roller hockey game early and decided I would take advantage and take a little walk. I had not really explored Kit Carson Park in some time and it was a perfect day. I only wished I had a bike...and my camera instead of just my phone. Arrrggghhh. (Really? Complaining b/c I don't have a zoom lens when I can actually take pictures with my freakin' phone?)

Nothing says welcome to the boys and girls of Escondido
more than a giant hissing rattlesnake

This used to be a swing but no longer. I am glad it is still around though.

There are a couple of small ponds that attract a lot of birds.
I only saw ducks but I did not look very hard.

If you look close you can see these palm trees were involved in a file.

There is a Japanese garden trick in which the designer creates a hard to walk path that forces you to look down as you walk. This was one of those. When I looked up again, I was looking at the Queen Califia Mosaic Garden.

Pretty cool stuff. Unfortunately, it is closed for repairs.

Here is a picture stolen from the website queencalifia.org

I was surprised to see a little orange grove in the middle of the park and oranges on some of the trees - with no fences around it.

And Pasha's team won. Pasha got the first two and the last goal - one right from the face off.

to Dan, no the sombrero was torn down, as well as that other thing, what was it, a pushcart or something. The push merry-go-round is gone too. Everything is too dangerous, apparantly, which makes one wonder how we all survived so long.......bonnie
