Carry On

One day my days and accomplishments will be such that the trivia you have seen here for the last two years will not even make the cut. But that will be then, and this is now.

I have managed to keep up with the mowing and the vegetable garden but have shamefully neglected the rest of the yard. Especially the "secret garden" which comprises a garden with only one entrance and a dead end that goes the width of the house. It is a narrow space facing east and has great possibilities, but I would actually have to lift a finger to make the most of it.

Recently I finally got a good vision of how I can make this work and keep it green and lush and low maintenance. I am not giving out that info since the chances of my changing my mind three times between now and planting time are high. It is an out of sight out of mind kind of situation. I am sorry I did not get the before on this because the weeds covered the entire path and area to the right.

The left side of the garden looks fine and has no weeds. I put in a couple of the plants - the plumbago and pittosporum in the foreground, but the rest were put in by Valya with cuttings. She has a true green thumb. The dogs have created a cave/path through the plants and they thrive despite it.

See, the entry covered in plumbago looks very inviting - definitely need to make it live up to the entryway

Newest Painting

Clare Was Here. This is my signature and it evolved because when Tom left I felt like I was dropped into a hole and became invisible and completely devalued. This was my first stab at establishing myself. One day I just took my paints and wrote it on the bathroom wall and I have kept it as my signature. I did this canvass as an undercoating of the following painting.

I heard this song the other day and it fit in with my new attitude I am trying to live by - what is, is. I remembered a painting I had seen at LACMA and decided that was how I was going to solidify the sentiment. I am sure all anyone will see is the BUTT part. At least those of the male persuasion.

Scratched into the surface are some other sentiments meant to heal.

The Gallery of Original Art

Time to carry on.

Post script: I know many people do not understand or care for art that is not representational. And my favorite comment is "I can do that!" My answer is, "But you didn't, did you?" So I understand that you may think this silly or even dumb, but it is my second favorite thing I have done so far.

The sky is clearing and the night
Has cried enough
The sun, he come, the world
to soften up
Rejoice, rejoice, we have no choice but
To carry on

love that song!! Beth
