We had a fierce winter. I think it lasted up to 8 weeks, off and on. Just horrendous. Of course we did have 8 days in a row of rain which is unheard of here, and a couple nights of frost but we have survived. We are a hardy bunch here in the southland.

Garden Update Winter-Spring 2011
My semi-annual opportunity to be an absolute bore about my garden. Always a treat.

The broccoli. Home grown broc is never quite like you find in the store. At this point I am waiting for enough teeny buds to make a meal for one.
My pretty cabbage. Something else has been helping itself to it but they seem to be leaving plenty for me.
The main winter bed. Filled with dill, cilantro, peas, broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, celery, carrots and beets.
Old fashioned peas. They are coming along slowly but I have already been able to get a few meals out of them. It is a true treat to be able to shell peas.
These are the sugar snaps. So far there has been one. I do not know if it will ever produce but it sure looks nice.
Bizarrely stunted beets. They have been growing way too long to be so small, but the cold may have hindered them.
Celery - I planted this in like July or something. I have never seen anything grow so slowly in my life.

Looks great, I'm impressed. How much will be able to be moved?
