In the meantime, I have snap peas! I had given up and berated myself for not inoculating the seed before planting, but they finally came around. I am psyched. So I will be having snap peas with my dinner tonight.
I also have some gorgeous lettuce - loose leaf and romaine. It is a damn shame I am not a lettuce person. And I have discovered that cilantro grown in the cooler months, although slightly less strong in flavor, does not go to seed as readily as it does in the summer where the window to harvest can be measured in hours rather than days.
I will be moving soon. I do not know when but probably March or April and that may change. Please do not ask: "How are things going with the house?" because it is a loaded question. For one - I do not have any hard and fast answers and secondly it simply underlines the failures of the last two years and makes a sunny day go dark. I simply do not know. And when I do I will pass it along. I appreciate the concern from all, but I know you will understand (and for any strangers reading this - nevermind...) A house is just a box, but boy do I hate to leave the garden. The good part is that I am two to three months away from a new crop wherever I land.
I think I will be able to harvest the onions before I go - I will anyway ready or not
And my theory that the worse the weather in the rest of the country the better it is here (and visa versa) is true today. As the South and East prepare for more snow, closing airports and all of the rest of the inconvenience it causes, we are a balmy 70 degrees with a light breeze and beautiful clear skies.
