On The Road

My roomie has a business doing custom embroidery and heat press designs for t-shirts, bags, etc.  She needed to go to a trade show in Vegas and wanted me to go so I could take some classes and help with her business, which is fine with me.

I have driven to Vegas often enough, but never knew what side trips there were just off the 15. This is Dolly's area of expertise.

Our fist stop was a ghost town. My first. I think of ghost towns as being in Arizona or Colorado or somewhere. Not just up the 15. I did go to Columbia, CA but it was different.
Calico, CA is a former silver mining town. It looks like its heyday lasted about 5 years. It is truly in the middle of nowhere. It must have been bleak in the late 1800s when it was up and running. It does have some really good earthquake evidence, however.

 Guess where?

Next stop was in the Mojave Desert. Unknown to me, there is a salt march there. Who knew?
