It was a mixed marriage. She with her Irish need for humor and her inborn sense of the absurd, a leaning towards melancholy and laziness contrasted by her delusions of grandeur. And he with his Teutonic love for order and parsimony and a penchant for taking himself and life too seriously. They feigned happiness for thirty-one years but we all knew it would never last.
