Saving the Harvest

This is a first. I have never had that great of a garden until this year and NEVER have I been able to do anything except use as it comes. As you may have observed in the previous post I have already put up pickles - and more to come. The cucumbers are prolific.

I have also made and frozen tomato sauce and frozen green and yellow beans and I have dried black beans - although they didn't all make it to winter as planned. Exciting is a relative term, but for me this is the ultimate in cheap thrills.

Bunch of Basil

Basil bunched and hanging to dry. I have also dried dill heads
and used some in the pickle making process.

This is a true experiment. I *think* I am doing it right but am not sure. I have tied up the sunflower seed heads to keep birds away and to catch any seeds as they fall.

Just for fun - a beautiful zinnia. Memories of Mom.
