Bad Timing
I planted bed #1 with the beginning of the fall/winter crop. Most of these like cooler temps to germinate and grow. Well, rather than look up the weather ahead of time, I did it afterward. It is hot - near 100 and looks like it will stay that way at least a week. Part of the problem is keeping the seeds moist and not letting it dry out. So I improvised a little shade cloth aka old sheet. Hopefully we will not have too much wind or the whole thing may go flying. These pictures are from my balcony in my bedroom.
If all goes well this bed will grow peas, broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, spinach, celery, carrots, beets and garlic.
