The VERY Last Bed

The first to reference the movie from which the title borrows wins. I'll send you a zucchini.

Nothing is more immediate and fast paced than a garden. I have put in what is the FINAL bed for this season. One whose foreclosure status is not yet finalized probably should not count their corn before it's husked, but if this isn't taking an optimistic stand, I don't know what is.

I realized I could put in the final bed almost for free. I had the wood. I had screws and I had a trash can of homemade compost that was almost cooked, plus the leftovers of a bag of garden soil.

I built the box, dumped the trash can of compost into it and topped with the soil. Very exciting, I can assure you. So that does it. I have the bones of a year round garden - let's see if I am up to the task.

The last box is not yet planted. Letting the compost relax a bit.

Sweet potatoes - I have a dream of all the veggies for Thanksgiving coming from the garden.

The pumpkin went directly to the top of the 6 foot trellis and now I am trying to convince it to go down. I have named it Audrey III (another movie reference for extra credit - but too easy)

A decent sized carrot - these are Nantes Half Long

Decided there needed to be a human in the picture at some point. Audrey III is over my right shoulder and my forehead high tomatoes are over my left shoulder. I am facing the corn (not seen) which is chest high (which isn't as high as the old days)

LOL!! My movie trivia ability is nil but loved the reference to the height of the corn.
Hope you are enjoying the fruits (or,more literally, vegetables) of your labors.
See you soon, I hope.

Little Shop of Horrors for extra credit.

The VERY refers to "the VERY semi-finals" as used in a story told by snooty soon-to-be niece-in-law from "Auntie Mame" staring Rosilind Russell. Close?

What do I win?
