EL OCHO!

Enough with the helicopter and celebrations! We have a garden to follow people!

For those who give a damn (of my 2-3 readers) the title is another movie reference, although a tad more obscure. Let's see how you do. If you get it you win a self-expense paid trip anywhere your budget will take you.

I have finally planted the eighth and LAST of the beds - the main beds anyway. This one has celery from seed, which I have never done before so it should be interesting. Also included: beets, carrots, onions (this is an experiment), bush beans and pole beans.

It is possible that I am either a mad dog or an Englishman because I decided to do this midday, in the sun in 85 degree weather in black. I am not smart (Star Trek the Next reference).

The final bed

I put bird netting over it mainly for the dogs as I am out of fencing. It is a treat that 10 foot 3/4 inch PVC pipe fits beautifully over a 4X4 box with no problem - especially when I already had some on hand.

In the previous box I planted I started a companion planting scheme, which is designed to repel the bad insects of the vegetable world. Companion planting can be pretty subtle, but it is also very cheap and no real trouble. Above are radishes and garlic. Can't have too much garlic.

Bed #7 coming along nicely.

Bonus: Oooo, just had an earthquake. At first it said it was a 5.9 but now it says 5.4.

Laska barked Layla just looked curious. I dropped what I was holding and panicked, not because of the earthquake, but because if I ended up having to run out I had taken my pants off and I wasn't about to run into Grecia in the hall like that - everyone else is away on vacation. As it turned out he wasn't here. He was at the DMV, like that place isn't bad enough.

LOL
I was having drinks with friends. Felt the quake somewhat but no one else did. Feeling foolish I didn't mention it. Then they felt foolish because they hadn't felt it.
A California quake experience if there ever was one: felt it, didn't feel it...
Our brethren in the East must have comments.

The eight, or eighth I presume? Never heard of the movie, remember a little of my Spanish!!!
I am fascinated by your beds, and will have to get lessons from you before next summer here...I have little sunlight due to hundreds of trees on or around our property, but after the huge storm last week that took out limbs and whole trees, we have much more!
